About Lorne Park: South Mississauga’s prestigious Waterfront estate Community and the Zoomer lifestyle it affords you

The residential community of Lorne Park is located in South Mississauga, Ontario Canada. In 2015, it has an estimated population of 15,000. Located in South West Mississauga , got its start in the 1800’s as the Hampton’s for Toronto’s elite class. It was an exclusive resort operated by the Toronto Parks Association, and it still retains that resort-like charm today. It is often referred to as the jewel of Mississauga. It is considered by many to be a prestigious area to live. If you review Lorne Park homes for sale, you will see why. Drive through the area and it’s easy to see why: quiet streets, mature trees, and character homes. Quiet, elegant living.

This south-western community of the north shore of Lake Ontario was originally settled in the 1830’s. It became well known for fruit growing. Lorne Park received its name from the then Governor-General, the Marquis of Lorne. It became popular as a cottage community and amusement park.  Visitors from Toronto would arrive by train or steamer. It eventually become a settled residential community. The area once occupied by the amusement park is now an exclusive community within Lorne Park, called Lorne Park Estates.  This sub-community contains some of the most sought after Lorne Park homes for sale. Most of the original cottages in this area were designed by Edmund Burke. Although numerous homes have been renovated or rebuilt into luxurious estates, the architectural elements of the homes often remain true to the original appeal of open porches and second story dormers.

Lorne Park has grown and evolved over a hundred years. As large lots of land were sold and parcelled off, you will see a mix of original cottages, as well as builder developments from the 50’s to the 80’s. Also very common are the infilling of tear downs and complete renovations. The newest and probably last major home development in Lorne Park is called Watercolours, and was built in the early 2000’s. Nearby parks include Richard’s Memorial Park, Brueckner Rhododendron Gardens and Jack Darling Memorial Park. It is within a pleasant walk of the vibrant waterfront Port Credit Village. These pluses add significant value to Lorne Park homes for sale.
